Arizona hoteliers received further bad news that Los Angeles and Austin city council members gave their nod to forbid most official Arizona travel in protest against the controversial immigration law of the state.
The LA Times reports that the resolution of LA approved yesterday in a 13-1 vote would still permit city officials to travel there under special circumstances that are in interest of the city.
One of the sponsors of resolution, Councilman Ed Reyes talked with the LA Times and stated:
Los Angeles is the second-largest city in this country, an immigrant city, an international city. It needs to have its voice heard.
The Associated Press reports that city council of Austin also gave vote to forbid Arizona's business travel. The AP story says that previous year, forty eight Austin city employees traveled to Arizona at a cost of $47,908. The story says that they traveled to Arizona for attending the conferences, an energy summit and training of police officer as well as to tour facilities of rail and a homeless resource center.
On Tuesday, there was an approval of resolution by San Francisco's Board of Supervisors which was comparable to resolution of LA. The record of cities and other government bodies that banned or were considering banning official travel to Arizona has grown-up considerably since April 30.
