Vivek Wadhwa had a piece early this month on the concept of a "Startup Visa" that would allow foreign entrepreneurs to bring their ideas and investment to the US.
The idea of a Startup Visa is being put forth as a legislative goal. Wadhwa looks at the differences between the proposed Startup Visa for entrepreneurs and existing visa categories - like the H-1B guest worker visa or the o-1 "genius" visa.
Wadhwa came to the US from Australia in the 1980. He started as a lower level techie and is now a scholar with academic positions at Harvard, UC Berkeley, and Duke. So Wadhwa bring some experience to the discussion.
It will be interesting to see how legislation on a Startup Visa progresses in Congress. I think it could help create jobs and drive innovation back to the US.
