UK Immigration Employer Raid
Filed in archive Europe on October 8, 2007
The United Kingdom Border and Immigration Services raided a number of takeaway outlets operated by the Caspian Fast Food chain as part of an immigration crackdown on illegal workers.
Four foreign nationals were detained and the restaurant chain was given a first offense warning. A government spokesman said the raid was a warning to employers that they face criminal charges and damage to public reputation if they employ foreign nationals unauthorized to work in the UK.
