The Hill is reporting that immigration reform is dead. At least for this year.
Republicans failed last week to keep provisions addressing illegal immigration in the Homeland Security spending bill, the latest sign that Democrats want to hold off on that debate until next year.I guess healthcare reform and the energy bill give Democrats a pretty full plate at the moment, politically. The GOP provisions that got removed from the bill included 700 miles of new fence between the US and Mexico.
